FryDay Shows Up for LA Communities
Community First: What It Means When a Food Truck Shows Up for LA Schools, Teams, and Neighborhoods
FryDay was founded on July 4, 2019, in Van Nuys, by Theophilos "Theo" Okuribido. From the beginning, the idea behind the brand has been bigger than a menu. It is about showing up for Los Angeles, one neighborhood and one gathering at a time. When we say FryDay is community-first, here is what we actually mean.
Community First Starts With Showing Up
A food truck is built to go where people are. We have served at school events, sports gatherings, corporate lunches, and large public celebrations across Los Angeles, including events connected to LAUSD, UCLA, the LA Galaxy, and the BET Fan Experience. Each one is different, but the principle is the same: when a community gathers, we want to be part of what makes the day feel good.
Showing up also means being dependable. People plan around the food at their events. Being on time, being ready, and serving with a smile is how a food truck earns a place in a community.
Food That Brings People Together
Loaded fries are made to be shared. They are easy to hold, easy to enjoy while standing and talking, and fun to try in different flavors. Our four signature flavors, Nashville Hot Chicken, Caribbean Jerk, Mango Habanero, and BBQ Bacon, reflect the flavors that make Los Angeles such a rich place to eat. A table of friends can try all four and compare notes, and that kind of conversation is part of the point.
Good food does more than fill people up. It gives a crowd something to talk about, something to line up for together, and something to remember afterward.
Rooted in the Valley, Serving All of LA
Starting in Van Nuys shaped how we think. The San Fernando Valley is full of neighbors who look out for one another, and that spirit stays with us as we serve events in other parts of Los Angeles. A school campus, a backyard party, a community fundraiser, and a company event all call for the same attitude: treat people well and take the occasion seriously.
A Truck and a Ghost Kitchen
FryDay operates as both a food truck and a ghost kitchen. The truck brings the experience to your event, and the kitchen gives people another way to enjoy FryDay when they are at home or at work. Both sides of the business reflect the same commitment: dependable service, bold flavor, and respect for the people we feed.
What Community-First Looks Like at Your Event
For hosts, a community-first approach means a few practical things:
- We listen to what your event needs, whether that is a fast line, a relaxed pace, or a menu that suits a mixed crowd.
- We communicate clearly before event day, so you know what to expect.
- We show up ready to serve your guests the way we would want to be served.
It sounds simple because it is. The best events feel effortless to the people attending them, and a lot of careful work happens before the window opens.
Why It Matters for Schools, Teams, and Neighborhoods
School fundraisers, team celebrations, and neighborhood gatherings share something: the people there are connected to each other long before the food arrives. A good food truck experience respects that. It keeps the line friendly, makes room for families and kids, and lets organizers focus on the people they invited instead of worrying about the meal.
The Takeaway
FryDay is proud of its Los Angeles roots, and we try to carry them into every event. If you are planning a school fundraiser, a team celebration, a company lunch, or a neighborhood gathering, we would love to be part of it.
